Pakistan Hypertension League was conceived by Prof. Azhar Masood A. Faruqui and his associates in 1995, but officially launched in June 1997. The Founding Council of members included Prof. Azhar Masood A. Faququi, Prof. Mohammad Ishaq, Prof. Kalimuddin Aziz, Prof. Ejaz A. Vohra, Dr. Maqbool Jaffery, Prof. Nazir Ahmed Memon & Prof. Ashfaq A. Khan (late).
